Which one should i choose ?Norton Internet Security 2008 or Macafee-Internet Security Suite?

For my computer and for you choose why should i pick the one you choose over the other one? This is for a home computer and I dont know much about secuirty systems and what to look for

Which one should i choose ?Norton Internet Security 2008 or Macafee-Internet Security Suite?panda

Avast Antivirus, its free and works great.

Which one should i choose ?Norton Internet Security 2008 or Macafee-Internet Security Suite?suzuki

IMHO i would choose Mcafee that's what recommend my customers. why because McAfee takes less system recources comparing to Norton
Norton works lots better! I have had both but now will only buy Norton
I personally use McAfee. I prefer it to Norton because McAfee will perform its updates a single time and you will get all of them... whereas Norton has a tendancy to perform an update and then if you force a manual update you will find there are more to be downloaded. .. This worries me.

However, I think that either is a good choice as long as you go for the entire suite with antivirus, firewall, antispyware, etc... such as 360 or the mcafee total plus.

Good Luck

  • Security question?

I had AVG on my computer but it will NOT update for some reason..And I don't know why, can you help me?

    Security question?photoshop

AVG has a bad detection rate.

Use Avast! anti-virus, theres a free version too and its like 10x

    better than AVG.

Or you could manually download updates of AVG's site.

    Security question?symatec

Maybe another anti-virus/spyware program is blocking it.

Only have one anti-virus program running active at once.
There are two things that can interfere with the automatic update feature. One is having it set for a specific time and not checking the box for updating when the computer comes online if it is not online at the time for the update. The other problem may me your computer's hybernation feature. Some computers will not come out of hybernation to update files or run comprehensive virus scans. Mine does, but my wife's does not.

Try checking the box for updating the next time the computer is connected to the internet if it is not connected when AVG tries to update. If that does not work, e-mail AVG with the details of your computer and its operating system. They will want to know about the problem, and they should be able to help you.

    Computer hacking??

this is a question I got in my information security class at devry. I need help awnsering it.. thank you..

How does hacking interface with applications? Where should we start addressing the security topic for application development?

    Computer hacking??pop up blocker

Simple answer, the worm gets in, uses a command line to open and use a program that has an opening and does something (usually malious). The solution to this is not a realistic thing, force the user to verify EVERY file that the CPU tries to open.

    Computer hacking??systemworks

U can create a virus just by using C++ or VB/pro, so if C++ and vb/pro create vireses, then vireses run like programs and some programs can't work together. about addresing the security, well first i would start by finding out what kinda security i need, then comes the application development. sorry couldent be more help full.
When hacking, you need to figure out ways to close programs that may come in your way, or you need to figure out ways to disable the Firewall settings. (I'm not a hacker)
    unplug the Network cable..................
It is because hacking involves a lot of programs. Programs sometimes interfere with each other. It's like windows drivers often interferes with its OS.

    Security problem?? Help please!?

I got a new computer Windows XP but I cant make my account private. I mean I can't check my folder to make it private (its like frozen) , u know what I mean... I could do that on my old laptop (same WindowsXP) I dunno whats wrong, I really want to protect my documents, alltough we have 3 accounts, but we can all see each other private things! Pleaseee help me! What to do, I know I made that on my old XP... :(

    Security problem?? Help please!?product key

Ok, you have to do like this.

First right click the file that you want to hide, then go to properties, and select hidden and press apply.

Then, in that folder itself, on the top menu bar, go to Tools-%26gt;Folder Options-%26gt; Here choose the View tab.

Inside this, there is an item named 'Hidden files and folders'. Check the 'Do not show hidden files and folders' radio button, then click apply, ok and then go back. Your file should not be visible now.

It is either frozen or it is not frozen but it is not ''LIKE'' frozen
    You need to be Administrator.

Restart Windows XP and press F8 at the start, keep pressing it until a DOS type menu pops up.

It will ask to start XP in Safe Mode or Normal, etc.

    Choose ''Safe''.

When the GUI bit boots up you should see Administrator plus all your other Users.

Choose Administrator - if you're lucky it will boot straight in. If it asks for a password try hitting ENTER and if that doesn't work... you better know what the PW is.

Once in XP as Administrator go to Control Panel %26gt; User Accounts.

Manage the User Accounts like you normally do, choose the account you want and make it private.

    It's pretty straight forward.

Wait for the process to finish and reboot the machine.

WPA encryption router security and connecting?

Hey i have a wireless router and i set a network name and password using wpa encryption. Now the only problem is the computer with a wireless netgear card won't pick up the signal of the router? Windows XP doesn't give any available networks to connect to even though I know one is there.

Does anyone know how to get my wireless computer to recognize the existence of this newly encrypted network?

The router is a D-link Rangebooster N (dr-625) revision A) and the adapter is a Wg113t Netgear wireless G but they have always seemed to be compatible before the encryption.

Most new laptops have a button to turn on and off the wireless (incase you're working on an airplane). Make sure the wireless is turned on. There should be an indicator light that looks like a radio tower. Beyond that, not sure.

It sounds like one of many different viruses written for MSN/Windows Messenger over the years. Your best bet would be run a capable anti-virus program (there are a few available for free, e.g. AVG Free edition) which should remove the virus for you in a fairly straight-forward fashion. These days manual removal of viruses (especially something as integrated as with MSN/Windows Messenger) is usually a fairly risky business. I've been ''fixing'' Windows computers for years, but I still leave virus removal up to software that really knows what it's doing.

  • How safe is this? (hard drive security)?

... okay, i have recently purchase an external hard drive that use a software name: secure L#ck ware... and, then, i realize a little... no, actually, a big problem, as when i connect the device to a second computer without this software... *and i can actually detect this hard drive through: my computer %26gt; right click %26gt; manage...'' and, i can even reformat the damn thing from another computer that has no software installed, no password no authority what-so-ever!!! that worried the hell out of me, as it's only common sense, for one can do a quick initialization of a hard drive, and still get more than 1/3 of the original content recovered... (please correct me if i am wrong :P)

so, it just make me worry... how safe and secure is this product? (in terms of keeping ones privacy and secret?)are there any thing i can do (other than drop it, that ain't an option =_=. ) to better secure some thing i want to keep it to myself for the rest of my life?

all hints are appreciated, thanks. %26gt;_%26lt;.

How safe is this? (hard drive security)?symatec

You're actually asking about two separate (yet related) questions: (1) Does the program keep my data secure, and (2) what could someone recover if the drive were stolen/accessed by an unauthorized user, even if they didn't have the software? Since #2 is the real danger, I'd say you're putting your faith in the software manufacturer - if you trust the encryption algorithm, it doesn't matter if the drive is accessible - that's exactly what the software is supposed to prevent. Sounds like you already know about recovering data from a formatted drive, so the real question is simple - do you trust the software to keep your ''private'' data secure NO MATTER WHAT?

Can Norton Internet Security cause blue error screens?

During the summer, I started getting ''Blue Screen of Death'' error messges on windows XP. There seemed no reason for this. We have Norton 2006 on the system, and there were no viruses. Eventually, in desparation, the operating system was reinstalled at a local computer shop.

I have very little software installed now, in comparison to what I had before, but I've had three blue screens again in two weeks - supposedly caused by Device Driver problems. I haven't installed any new hardware or software. The only problem early last month was with Norton. I had an error message LU1812 - an update failed to install. I kept running live update, but nothing happened, and The message came up that my computer was ''at risk''.

I then installed the latest version of Liveupdate for Norton 2006 after removing then reinstalling the product. Norton now shows a message that's it's working correctly.

Since, then, I've had these wretched blue screens! Has anyone else had this problem?

when you get a blue screen it can be a number of things, if you read what it says on the screen it will give you an idea what is wrong.

I asked a question yesterday but i can't add to it cuz of the problem. Well like i said in the other question. When i try to open my security center or system restore or the search in the start menu the windows pop up but there is just a blank screen. And on websites i can click on links but they don't work. (Like on myspace i can only see the first pages of bulletins and friends cuz the links don't work). When i mouse over a link though it says something about JAVASCRIPT instead of the webpage link. O and the download links on security sites aren't there cuz of the problem so i can't download any type of new software.

This may sound like a stupid tip but for a start, quit going on myspace. Myspace has hidden viruses that can eat up your computer. And if you go to Arch0wel.com and play FFR and go chatting that has hidden viruses. Talk to your computers company and see what happened. And they will tell you how to fix it. I say leave myspace and dating sites and Arch0wel for about two weeks and play on non-chatting/getting to know other people sites. It will do your computer good.

sound like ur pc just almost quit.run the recovery disc.everything will b ok after that.
I had a huge problem with my computer that sounds similar to yours. I had The Geek Squad come over and check my computer, he ran a check on my whole system and said that my computer itself was fine, but my Window XP had a major error. He said the problem would be corrected completely if I uninstall Window XP and reinstall it. The big drawback is you lose everything on your hard dive (Anything important was backed up on disks anyway). I did this myself using the instructions I received with my computer, and it totally solved the problems. Everything works even better that new now, and it was really quite easy to do.
do you have any 3rd party security software on your computer? sounds like its taking over I'd uninstall it. if not it might be you privacy settings in internet explorer. go to tools internet options and set your security and privacy settings to default.

    Security camera help?computer repair

If you are planning on using your video footage for legal purposes, Don't plug it into your computer unless you have software geared towards recording a CCTV camera.

A video card in a PC will only record the video. This ''raw'' video is not admissable in court and the majority of law enforcement officials cannot even use it as evidence anymore. If this video is recorded in a CCTV digital video recorder or enterprise software on your PC, it will come equipped with a tamper detection feature, watermark, and encryption of the stored video. All of which is now needed to make surveillance video as legal evidence.

With the rapid growth of video-vigilanties, many new laws have passed on legal video evidence. Recording audio is prohibited in many states unless the subject is made aware, or there is visable signage informing the person (s) that audio is being recorded.

Zonealarm Suite provides an excellent firewall, good antivirus protection (licensed from Kaspersky) and decent antispyware protection thanks to the the triple-defense firewall. However, it's not as good at spyware removal as some other commercial products.

If you're considering freeware security applications, you can choose from the following:

firewall: (listed in order of preference)

    Comodo (http://www.comodo.com ), or

    PC Tools (http://www.pctools.com/firewall )

Comodo recently released version 3.0 of its firewall, which adds an intrusion prevention component that's very effective, though it does take time for it to learn your system, and requires some ongoing attention by the user to make sure programs don't get improperly blocked. Comodo is one of the strongest firewalls available, freeware or commercial, according to the independent testing site matousec.com.

antivirus: (listed in order of preference)

    Avira (http://www.free-av.com )

    AVAST! Home (http://www.avast.com )

well go to control panel add and remove programs

    make sure its uninstalled

then go to run command and type in msconfig click ok go to the start up tab

    and uncheck bit defender

it may still be listed and your comp is trying to find it

when u restart a screen will say bla bla crap just click the box ok and it disapears

this all happens because you uninstalled the program but sometimes files dont get cleaned in the registry

you have to clean up the registry

in order to do this you need

now if you have no clue what ur doing get some help cuase messing up ur registry can mess up ur computer so before you do all this its a good idea to set a system restore point so that if anything does go wrong you can do a system restore

Is there any Online Security Software that has English-speaking Tech support?

AT%26T Yahoo! just switched from Computer Associates to Nortons as their bundled Online Protection Software. In less than 24 hours Nortons was causing my computer all kinds of problems. I am now searching for a new Protection Software but so far they all have ''English as a second language'' tech-support people. I am not good at understanding East Indian accents. And I want to keep my money in the USA.

Wow, good luck on that one. It seems like every time I have to call tech support for anything I get someone who has trouble speaking English and I can't understand them at all. Unfortunately, many times their tech support is overseas. No joke. It seems many tech support units are in India.

Windows Updates does not on my computer?free spyware remobal

Have you tried going to the Microsoft site to get updates? Usually they can scan your your system via the browser (IE only) and advise you of any pending updates. Also make sure you have Windows updates enabled in Explorer, right click on My Computer, choose Properties, click on the Automatic Updates and enable it from there, make a choice how you want updates, (Automatic (recommended), Download updates but let me choose when to install them, Notify me but don't automatically download or install them or Turn off Automatic updates. Your choice. Good luck!

Anti-vir is a good app to have as well, and free. Easy to use Ad-aware 2007 has a free version (as suggested above). If your free stuff doesn't work and you have to absolutely buy something, Webroot Spysweep is a decent app
Go to add/delete programs. Delete the myfreeze.com. I am guessing that it's that program that has downloaded all the rest because I had the same problem with that site. Deleting myfreeze should remove most of the other programs you have listed. After you have done this, delete the desktop shortcuts.
I am guessing you have a virus or cookie somewhere on your computer. You should run a virus check, then try deleting them.
Get a free adware remover program and scan your computer. It should remove all of these programs. Lavasoft ad-aware is a good one to download. Also, get an external hard drive to store your pics on and you won't tie up your memorey.

Question about Nortons Internet Security 2007?

I recently had to renew my Nortons 2005 and when I did, for an additional $4.99 I could *upgrade* to 2007. No problemo, I really like Nortons and *knocks wood* so far, its kept all the bad stuff away from my computer.

My question is, where did my Parental Control List go? I have a teenage daughter that uses this computer and I don't want her anywhere near myspace/tagged/zanga.....which before I upgraded, she couldn't access because of the Parental Controls through Nortons.

Now that I've upgraded, there is nothing that says *Parental Control List* and I know its not going to take her long to figure out that the little graphic isn't coming up anymore that tells when its loading....so she'll be able to access everything I don't want her to.

I've searched and searched Symantecs website looking for the answer and the info there, wasn't helpful.

Can anyone tell me how I can get Parental Controls with Nortons 2007?

    Thank you.

I have Norton Internet Security 2007--is it possible for a virus to get around this?

I just recently purchased a desktop in January. Since I bought it and got the internet hooked up, it seems as though I have had nothing but problems. I've had to reformat the damn thing TWICE, and now I'm unable to install anything onto the computer.I called tech support for like the fifth time, and they're telling me that my p.c. more then likely picked up a virus that made it's way around my antivrus software. I know that nothing's 100 percent effective, butNorton's supposed to be pretty good. It SHOULD BE, anyways, for as much as I paid for it. What should I do? The rep from tech support told me to format my p.c. again, but at this point I'm not sure what to believe. It is possible that the software did fail, but I also can't understand why a virus would destroy a couple of my files(that's the problem I'm having right now) and not give out any kind of warning. Help, please! I know a little about computers, but have no idea what to do if something goes wrong.

I have Norton Internet Security 2007--is it possible for a virus to get around this?husqvarna

Every computer I have worked on that had Norton on it had viruses. I even had a friend install a brand new version of Norton(before he talked to me) which told him that his computer was free of viruse and trojans, but I showed him, ( I proved ) that he had over 50 viruses and trojans using 3 different virus programs. make up your own mind, I never tell anyone to use Norton. use a freeware program for viruses, there are many to choose from.

Are there any safety/security concerns with setting up a home network on WindowsXP (for printer shar

Is my computer more vulnerable if a home network is set up on my Windows XP computers, compared to if it was not connected to a network? Are there any safety precautions that i should take? Can hackers hack in to my home network easily?

Are there any safety/security concerns with setting up a home network on WindowsXP (for printer sharing)?internet security

There are multiple answers to your question.

Sharing your printer is not in and of itself a security risk. However, this means you have certain capabilities within Windows enabled (the ability to act as a server), and security holes exist; that is, someone might exploit your situation.

There are no absolutes about security. It is really a matter of deterance. Make your system secure enough that it is not worth the trouble to defeat your security.

That said, note that printer sharing and file sharing are two separate options within Windows. Be sure NOT to enable file sharing, but printer sharing ONLY.

I assume you are connected to the Internet via a router; most of the routers I've encountered default to not accepting connections requested from an external source, so there is another layer of security. Also, your router is performing NAT (Network Address Translation); in short, the actual IP address of each PC in your home network is not known to an outsider. HOWEVER, if you are using the default internal scheme (192.168.0.n) then these addresses are easy to guess.

In simple terms, if you do not have file sharing enabled on any computers, you are relatively safe, but never totally safe from intrusion. Use your Windows firewall for additional security.

McAfee Security center will continue to tell you to use its different features, until you go into the settings (configuration) and tell it to stop giving you warnings. It's also probably warning you that your wireless connection isn't a ''secured'' connection because no encryption protocol is being used. This means anyone with a wireless laptop can detect and use your wireless signal without having to provide a password or encryption key.

    Opinions on Verizon Online Security?

It SEEMS okay, but really slows down the computer, even for updates, and NEVER finds anything! I'm sure we must have at least 1-2 worms or something, as the computer is very slow. Also, the spyware scanner NEVER picks up anything, whereas the AdAware scan always does! Only the firewall seems pretty good.

What do people think of this antivirus suite? When I get more money, I'd like to ditch it and get something better. PC World recommends AOL's Active Virus Shield. Anyone use it?

This question is about '; Remote Assistance '; and the safety, security and positive results

I have friends that live a good distance from me and are having computer problems. The think it might be a virus or spyware that is preventing them from using their computers many functions . I am told that they are only able to open E-Mail but have problems in many areas. Their internet acces is also limited. My question is can I remotely connect with their computer to help with the troubleshooting efforts and can I gain access (temporarily) to the computer as if I were in the room or must I drive 500 miles to get that close. There is also mention of some program called SPYLOCK,LTD. that was installed without their knowledge from the web and it cannot be removed nor deleted without gasoline and a match . Has anyone heards of it and how is it removed , short of the torch method ? By the way , Can anyone tell me how to hook up remotely . Windows xp professional is the operating systems used here. Thanks

remote assistance is safe, cos no one else can connect to your computer except the one you allow to. so if you trust your friend, you can let him/her to fix your computer. i know some antispyware companies use this remote fixing as well. A bubble in my system tray pops up constantly, sayin something about System Security Center. I tried to use it one time, then stopped using it.....and ever since then it will not stop bugging me. How can I stop them from popping up or delete System Security Center?

    Another computer problem.?malware

go to start -%26gt; control panel -%26gt; security center

and click on the left ''change the way security center alerts me''

and change it all to no alerts.

    Another computer problem.?norton 360

That bubble can be the life or death of your PC please pay attention to it. First of all you want to ensure that your firewall is on, your system update is on also that you have an active spyware running on you systen regularly to ensure you dont have any virus attacking your PC

I'm not sure what your bubble is saying but you should read it in detail
Try opening this''bubble'', as you call it, and see what it tells you you need to do. Generally right clicking it will lead you to a link for some options. I think this bubble is more like a Shield in Red %26 Blue. It's probably telling you that it doesn't detect an Anti Virus program, that your Automatic Updates is not ON or that your Firewall is not ON. Do as they suggest to get rid of the icon.
The usual reasons why Security Center would prompt you, would be that you don't have a virus guard on your computer or your virus guard has not been associated with the security center. The second reason is automatic updates. Both these options would prompt you if automatic updates are off or if new updates are available to download.

To change the settings of Security Center, go to Control Panel -%26gt; Security Center and change the settings.

Well without knowing the make and model of your router, you can find out by reading the manual or going to there web site and caheck for instructions there. There are more then one way to do it. If you like you can mail me anI will look into it and tell you what you need to do.

All security is implamented through your Wireless Router.

Normally typing in 192.168.1.1 will take you to the routers Utility, and thus allow you to set up either

    WEP

    WPA

The use of a particular operating system really doesn't make any difference. when it is done through the router.

    Limewire Security....?

When using Limewire is there spyware and adware involved downloading to my computer everytime I run the program? I'm unsure and a little skeptical about Limewire b/c they say they have absolutley no spy/adware but people keep telling me they do. Anyone know the truth?

The stuff you download. Too often.

If you keep your anti-virus and adware removal software up to date, you'll probably be alright.

there is spyware and adaware because of the shareware and that just ******* sucks don't it?
there is a possibility for adware and spyware from limewire
Lime Wire is safe to have.

i'm using it for like more than 3 years.. it's just amezing and easy to use.

    no spyware or virus threat

one more thing that, do not download from www.download.com, which sends the adwares with the limewire setup file.
spyware will be added to your computer when you install Limewire. Kazaa is even worse. After the installation is complete you should run Spypot and ad-aware (from lavasoft) to clean up your computer (both free at www.downloads.com).

I can only recommend that you install and run these packages weekly to keep your PC clean.

I would also recommend using Window washer to clean up your computer on a weekly basis and that you empty out your JAVA jar on a regular basis.

Another word of advice, don't download stuff from Limewire or Kazaa unless you have a good and up to date virus protection softweare package.
dude chill. i can share my limewire pro. it doesnt have spyware and adware. if u download basic one than u will certainly get loads of spyware depending upon which antispyware u have.

I was wondering how to safely update my website. I update the site just by using ftp followed by the site's name. On my old computer it told me that this method isn't secure because someone with the right software could read what I typed. How can I securely update my website without risking someone stealing my password?

Not true. I've been using SmartFTP for years and have never worried about someone monitoring the connection to a secure server. Your email is more likely to be read then your FTP connection. After all email is only private for 180 days on a server then its public.

Yes, there are several various resources:

    Folderlock

    http://www.newsoftwares.net/folderlock/

fast file-security program that can password-protect, lock, hide and encrypt any number of files, folders, drives, pictures and documents in seconds. Protected files are hidden, undeletable, inaccessible and highly secure. It hides files from kids, friends and co-workers, safeguards them from viruses, trojans, worms and spyware, and even protects them from networked PCs, cable users and hackers. Files can also be protected on USB Flash Drives, Memory Sticks, CD-RW, floppies and notebooks. Protection works even if files are taken from one PC to another on a removable disk, without the need to install any software. It locks files in Windows, DOS and even Safe Modes. Additional Options include Stealth Mode, Hacker Attempt Monitoring, Shred files, AutoLock, Auto Shutdown PC, Lock your PC, Erase PC tracks, 256-bit Blowfish Encryption and Context Menu in Explorer. Works on Windows 2003/XP/2000/NT/Me/98 and all kinds of disk types like FAT16, FAT32, NTFS. Folder Lock is the most downloaded file-security program in the market today.

Internet security from your own parents?

I have heard all the stories on the news websites-about how parents track everything thier kids do on the computer. I must say that I am very scared, not becasue of the danger of predators, but of the parents themselves.

I have read the stories of the parents who say that they give their kids no privacy. They say that they install programs that track keystrokes, evasdrop on IM's, and even hack into their kids' personal emails. In my opinion, reading someone else's email is worse that stealing their postal mail.

I'm 14-the prime age for an Internet predator and therefore the perfect target of overprotective parents. My parents are nice people and I trust they would never do such an invasive thing as to hack into my email. I have nothing really worth hiding, but I am worried that they may be spying on me. How can I tell if they are?

And if so, should I confront them about it?

Internet security from your own parents?virus scan

When you become a parent you won't feel that way. Then you will look back at what you posted here and say to yourself ''Man was I ever naive.''. Your parents are only trying to protect you. They are also responsible for everything you do. If your children were using or selling drugs wouldn't you want to know?

If you show them that you are trustworthy they will have no reason to spy on you.

Adjusting security options on external hard drive in Windows Vista?

I have an external hard drive that gives me fits every time I hook it up to my Windows Vista computer. Suppose I want to delete a file; then I get a dialog box that reads ''Destination Folder Access Denied: You need to confirm this operation.'' But the confirmation process is unbelievably corny and involves a second ''User Account Control'' dialog box. This is ridiculous. Network security problem >.<?

Every single time I secure my wireless network the internet ALWAYS stops working it wont recieve any outside information, it wont display any web pages, I had to make it unsecured again to post this question, I used the router's settings page, I enabled the WEP key setting to mandatory and I enabled a mac address filter so only my computer would be accepted into the network... does anyone know how to fix this annoying problem...

    Network security problem %26gt;.%26lt;?virus

Start by deleting the mac filter until your get the encryption settings going. I wouldn't use WEP as it's so easy to crack but before switching to WPA I would double check the SSID on your computer access card (Netgear is not the same as netgear). If your sure the SSID is good then double check the WEP key and make sure one device isn't using a passphrase to hex while the other is not. If this seems ok then I'd look at the firewall on the router to make sure the wireless side isn't locking you out. You'd have to give hardware specs for anyone to help with that.

    Network security problem %26gt;.%26lt;?anti virus

after you make the settings on your router, try rebooting the modem, router and the computer and then connecting.
We would need to know what your network consists of. Desktop, wireless router and a laptop? If so, which one will not access the internet. Does your laptop ask you for your encryption key? Try WPA security if both of your devices support it. It is better than WEP.

MAX SECURITY!!!! how can i protect a folder by adding a password??

MAX SECURITY!!!! how can i protect a folder by adding a password??viruses

You can use programs like folder security professional or the award winning folder lock. Both offer encyption and can limit access to specific drives. Also they can hide them so noone would no are there and I believe they have the option to even hide how much memory is used up in folders and drives.

MAX SECURITY!!!! how can i protect a folder by adding a password??antispam

The program in this link works well. You can hide a folder and/or lock it with a password, which is pretty cool.

Though, it does cost some money, as almost all security programs do nowadays.
If you wanna protect a file or folder with a password then i'd recommend using Winrar. It will compress ur file/folder and if u may select to password it so that everytime someone extracts the file/folder, the password would have to be entered.
There are many free software apps that do this as well.

This package allows you to encrypt individual files and folders as well as creating virtual disks that encrypt all the file contents. This can be done on your hard disk or your pen drive.

If you are buying a new usb flash drive take a look at one with the enrcyption features built in like the Kingston Data Traveler

Normally your malware programs will delete these beasts. If this is not the case you should be aware that a lot of viruses, spyware %26 adware are designed to sit in RAM, the registry and System Restore and because of this will return even after deleting or re-booting. Removing can be a little time consuming but thankfully not impossible. Yes there are many sites offering solutions to removal but why not do the obvious yourself?

Homeland security. A lawyer should answer or anyone else who might know the answer?

I travelled tp Europe several times last year and once this year to visit my sick parents ( Cancer). Everytime I get back into the US ( I am a US citizen), the immigration officer asks me how long I have been gone, what was the purpose of my trip, and how many and which countries I have visited. I do not have any problems answering his/her questions, but I believe that all those questions are answered right on their computer screen. My question is the following: '' Do I have to answer their questions? I thaught that we have the right, and even encouraged to visit as many countries as possible as long as those countries were not at war with the US like Cuba for example. I do not mind being truthful, but it seems like these questions are a bit intrusive and it bothers me. Please elaborate if you can. I did notice that the Europeans do not ask such questions at all. Thanks for your replies.

Homeland security. A lawyer should answer or anyone else who might know the answer?adware

The quick answer is you must answer their questions if you want to enter the country. Some of the questions are asked to verify your identity by comparing the nations you list with those stamped on your passport. Others are to make sure you are honest about what you are bringing into the country. Knowing how long you are out of the country allows them to determine how much you are allowed to bring back before duties are levied.

According to Customs Law, they have to ask those questions, and when you think about it, they're really not personally intrusive.

This will bring up a box showing your connection status. Click the 2nd tab at the top of the box. It will give you a Default Gateway address. Type this address into Internet Explorers address bar and hit enter.

    3. Once you have typed in the correct IP address another box will show up asking for User and Password. By default the user name is blank (as in nothing) and the password is ''admin'' without the '' symbols.

    4. Once is loads the page you should have a wireless tab at the left or top depending on the router. Click the Wireless tab.

    5. Click the Wireless Security tab or Security tab next to display the WEP settings and key.

If by chance you can't get in using the admin password or you have forgotten the password all together you have to reset the router.

1.Windows XP SP2 and Vista have a built-in firewall which is switched on by default. So yes, in e.g. the USA / UK most people probably use a software firewall, although the in-built Windows firewall is pretty poor. Firewall leak-test results: http://www.matousec.com/projects/windows...

2.Nearly all anti-virus programs find and remove not just viruses but also other malware, i.e. spyware in its various forms. However, according to AVG their free anti-virus program only detects actual viruses: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/us/frt/0

    3. Broadly, yes.
    1) Seeing microsoft now has an inbuilt firewall in their latest OS's, i'd say thats a yes.

    2) Depends on what antivirus software, AVG can do both spyware and virus removal.

    3) Advertising that is integrated into software. so depending on how you want that answered, Adware could be downloaded automatically from the net into the host software.

My stepdaughter constantly stays on msn messenger talking to her friends. I got on the computer last night to check my email, and she had forgot to sign off before leaving. There was an instant message that popped up from a contact on her list. He thought I was her and proceeded to ask me if I was horny, what I was wearing, if I masturbated, and telling me how hard his c*ck was. I was mortified. I never responded to him. My stepdaughter is only 11 yrs. old. I told her father and he is livid!! We called her mother and she ask her about who he was. She said he was some guy she had talked to before, but she didn't know him. My husband is trying to find out who he is, but is there anyway we can press charges if we do find out.
